The Bay of Plenty Polytechnic's annual design exhibition, InFuse, showcases graphic design talent and fashion collections from graduating Diploma students.
Students from both disciplines were offered the opportunity to exhibit work as part of a collective end-of-year show. Graduating Fashion student then showcased their collections on a 34 metre catwalk for a sold-out, 700 seat audience.
The runway show was supported with atmospheric, black and white photographs of the students designing and developing the garments which was projected against a giant screen overhanging the model's entrance to the catwalk. The Designer and collection's name was to appear on the screen for the duration of the models walk.
A custom slideshow solution was developed with Apple's Quartz Composer to allow operators the ability to trigger the collection names manually without interrupting the rotation of imagery.
The slideshow dynamically pulled its content from custom xml files and a local folder of images, which provided the opportunity to edit and adjust the sequence of collections at the venue and for the inclusion of new photographs taken on the night.
