OML Construction is an Edmonton-based construction company specializing in commercial, light industrial, and multi-family residential projects across Western Canada.
Their overarching company ethos is grounded in their commitment to a smarter approach to construction—and their track record speaks volumes. Projects are continuosly completed on-time, and on-budget.
I was tasked with creating a modern, fresh identity to strengthen this resolve, and visually communicate renewed key messaging to existing and prospective clients alike.
The mark draws on familiar shapes from industry hardware—anchor bolts, nuts, nails, phillips and robertson screws, and combines them with customized letterforms, to create a distinct and memoriable logo.
To ensure the brand was used in a correct and consistent manner, a comprehensive set of verbal and visual brand guidelines was developed. Delivered as an interactive PDF file, the document used a custom Javascript function to extract embedded brand assets, like colour palettes and bitmap / vector versions of the logo, to the end user's computer. Integrating the assets with the guidelines in this way, meant the client only had to manage and store one file, rather than a plethora of individual files in different file formats.
